Notes on Spring!
What are your favorite things about spring? Some of our favorite parts of spring are the sprouting of plants, like crocus and skunk cabbage.
The sweet sound of the spring peepers (frogs) is another favorite of ours. You’ll typically hear the peepers in the early evenings. On spring’s warm(er), rainy nights, you might see these kinds of road signs (below) warning you to look out for frogs and salamanders crossing roadways during amphibian migration (sometimes called Big Night).
We love the return of the birds. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology will answer all of your questions about bird migration. Here’s a map of migration patterns, Bird Cast, for spring 2025 from The Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Colorado State University.
We love to see the budding trees. You can track the 2025 spring leaf out via the U.S.A.’s National Phenology Network. What are some of your favorite trees?
For fun, here are some of our favorite spring poems.
Find some of our other spring favorites via our Instagram page.
Read our recent blog post on maple syrup. Fresh maple syrup on our pancakes is another spring favorite!
